Vaida Kačergienė

I have 17 years of experience in optometry. I have been working in the personal health care system for more than 26 years. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Rehabilitation and a Master's degree in Healthcare Management. Since 2018 I have been elected President of the Lithuanian Optometric Association. Since 2018, the Lithuanian Association of Optometrists has implemented a number of changes that are important for all optometrists in Lithuania - the practice of optometry has become a legitimate personal healthcare activity with regulated procedures for study, profession, workplace, and professional qualification development.
I have extensive experience in initiating and participating in changes and coordination with national authorities to optimise and improve optometrists' performance. I give presentations on eye and vision care to personal health care and pharmaceutical professionals, write scientific articles on optometric management for peer-reviewed national publications, and continuously improve my professional qualification at various professional events. The aim of my activity in the Lithuanian Optometric Association is to create optometric professionals who respect their profession, are professional, abide by the laws of the country, have comfortable and necessary working conditions for their professional activities, are morally responsible and understand the importance of continuous professional development. I also want the Lithuanian optometric community to be strong, respected and committed to mutual support and respect.
During my new term on the Board of the Association, I will continue the work I have started, in cooperation with my colleagues and
meeting the current professional needs of today's optometrists.
