EVENT ORGANISED BY THE LITHUANIAN OPTOMETRIC ASSOCIATION

Event description

On 3 March 2019, the Lithuanian Optometric Association together with the Institute of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Vilnius University, organised the first ever conference "Diplopia correction with prisms" at Panorama Hotel in Vilnius, Lithuania, to celebrate the forthcoming 440th anniversary of Vilnius University. The conference attracted great interest among Lithuanian optometrists and ophthalmologists, with 120 participants. The first conference of the Lithuanian Association of Optometrists was opened by the President of the Association Vaida Kačergienė, and the participants were welcomed by the Director of the Institute of Health Sciences of the University of Latvia Prof. Dr. Natalya Fatkulina. During the conference, Eglė Danielienė, MD, PhD, lecturer at VU MF, shared her unique experience and gave a presentation on the topic "Diplopia correction with prisms". The presentation "Topicalities of Optometry Studies and Refresher Courses at Vilnius University" was given by Saulius Galgauskas, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Optometry at Vilnius University. Saulė Malinauskienė, representative of UAB Litopt, presented the Biofinity contact lens family. The conference participants and lecturers discussed topical issues of professional activity, shared their experience and expressed great hope for the new Bachelor's degree programme in Optometry at the Faculty of Medicine of VU, and for the training of optometrists in the field of optometry in the health sciences, and looked forward to the start of a refresher course programme for optometrists.
