The prevalence of visual impairment is increasing in all age groups, a trend observed not only in Lithuania but also worldwide. Eye care experts believe that this is due to changes in people's lifestyles and the constant use of smart devices.
"One of the tools for correcting vision is corrective eyewear. The number of wearers is growing both in Lithuania and around the world. Looking at the current trends, it can be predicted that, unfortunately, this will inevitably continue to grow. This is strongly linked to modern lifestyles - the indiscriminate use of smart technologies from childhood, little exercise, insufficient time spent outdoors and in nature, constant computer work or looking at the screen of a mobile phone. All this contributes to visual impairment," says Vaida Kačergienė, President of the Lithuanian Optometric Association.
